    What Are We Here For?

I stumbled upon a free showing of the movie “A Fault In Our Stars”. It’s a deep meditation on life and death, topics that have been at the forefront of my mind since the recent death of my father. Without going into the whole plot, at the end of the movie one character is about to give a eulogy for a friend. At the last minute, looking out at those gathered graveside, the character folds up the prepared speech and speaks words of comfort, rather than the philosophical words written in advance.

I left the movie thinking, that’s it! This young character gets it! This is what life is about! And what is it they (don’t want to identify gender and spoil the ending) get?

They get that we are here to give comfort, love, and light to others simply by being exactly who we are! By being our true selves, the radiance, love and beauty that we are surrounds us. There is nothing to add, get better at, or even get more of. Rather there is a releasing of all that is not truly us. Release the layers of “not you” that cover up your perfection and “true you” naturally emerges. YOU ARE PERFECT, RIGHT NOW, EXACTLY AS YOU ARE.

    With love,
