As we enter into a three day holiday weekend and look ahead to the longest possible summer, I invite you to think about the role of pleasure and leisure in your life. (That’s right, with an early Memorial Day and late Labor Day we are heading into a long summer.) For me summer is a time for moving at a slower pace and making time for fun. Be it hiking, pool time, or summer festivals, I’m on the lookout for ways to get out, get moving, and enjoy life.
Scanning my Facebook feed a few minutes ago, I read a friend’s post inviting us to share something we are doing just for ourselves this holiday. I thought I’d put the same questions to you: What are you doing just for YOU this holiday weekend?
Here are some quotes about pleasure. Enjoy!
There is no pleasure in having nothing to do; the fun is having lots to do and not doing it.
Andrew Jackson
The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you’re in control of your life. If you don’t, life controls you.
Edgar Allan Poe
The greatest pleasure of life is love.
We cannot be more sensitive to pleasure without being more sensitive to pain.
