• What Are You Waiting For?

    What might you do differently if you knew your life as you know it is about to go up in smoke? Today’s Voices For Healing Talk Radio guest, Kristen Moeller, lost her dream house and possessions in a wildfire in Colorado in March 2012. This event, among others, inspired her to write a book about taking meaningful action towards dreams and desires now, not later. One first step, is to let go of all that is not helpful. A fire cleared out material possessions for Kristen in the most painful of ways. She encourages you to not wait for urgency to clear out beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve and to run a “fire drill for your life” where you ask yourself what things, people, beliefs, behaviors are helpful to you and which are harmful. Gently begin to release the negative.

    The two takeaways from Kristen’s talk are 1) let go of needing to be perfect. Make room for uncertainty to live in your life as you engage in life not knowing what the outcome may be for various actions. 2) Take simple actions. Small, meaningful, mindful steps can take you where you want to go.

    Beliefs are so important and Kristen shares that even in the immediate time after the fire, she knew that transformation would follow and she allowed time for grief and healing. Through that process she encountered herself over and over again as we all do when we decide to live a present, conscious life. There is no finish line, no end point where we can look back and say, “I did it. I arrived. I’m all cooked and done.” There are many moments of joy and sorrow as we travel along learning and growing and changing along the way. Check out the radio interview as well as Kristen’s book.
